If you drive by a shopping strip, close to our home around noon, you'll usually see LOTS of professionals walking in their work clothes. Pretty cool, right? Some are in scrubs, some in business attire, others in their work shirts, shorts and tennis shoes! All I know is that I am amazed!! They are taking the time to take care of themselves. Making time for exercise. I totally understand that with every career, this is not possible but if it is at all an option, my goodness-take advantage! I mean, I always worked out on my lunch break-conference time as much as possible but I was a P.E. teacher, I worked in workout clothes! I knew that when the children who were at lunch and recess saw their P.E./Health teacher working out, they would know how important exercise and taking care of their heart really is! Plus, it helped take care of my exercise so that when school ended for the day, I could spend the rest of the evening with my husband and son!
It was just a really cool sight to see women of all different professions, all walking at different speeds, some even jogging and knowing they all had one thing in common... They were MAKING IT HAPPEN! THEY WERE GETTING IT DONE!! Woohoo, they sure amazed me and although I don't know who they are, they are getting a shout out from the Move It Momma RIGHT NOW!
How about you? Are you a working woman who finds time to exercise at lunch?

I would love to be able to go out and walk or run during lunch. Unfortunately I only have about 25 minutes and most of it is spent answering emails and putting out fires! I see our PE teacher at school and find myself being jealous that she gets to wear workout close!
It's funny you posted this because my coworker and I were driving by lunchtime joggers today and he expressed great surprise that people workout over lunch. Unfortunately, our boss would not be supportive of such a thing.
I love this blog! I'm stopping by via the hop. We have a couple of hops going on our Mom Blog Society, we'd love for you to join us. PS. We feature our members.
I did walk at noon when I worked, even in the snowy winters. I tried running once, but didn't care for the minor cleanup the office washroom allowed!
I love to see people out when I know they are on their breaks from work.
And, I also love to see Moms or Nannies out with running strollers, and kids and dogs in tow! Fun.
YES! I work out over lunch every day that I don't have lunch plans or a meeting over the lunch hour. We are lucky to be located right on some great running trails, have a locker room with showers, and also a gym. I keep a bag with clothes here at all times, so if a meeting or lunch plan cancels last minute, I have no excuse - an extra opportunity to work out! I also block my calendar so I can run at least three days/week.
Your positive attitude is inspiring. BTW, do you have one of those Nike sensor watches? I need to get some friends to have have little encouraging competetions with on their site :) Stopping in to follow from the Wednesday hop. Hope you can visit soon and return the favor. www.shaunanosler.blogspot.com/
I a a SAHM so I make sure I work out on a daily basis 4 days a week if I can. Love your blog new follower from the hop hope you can by and say hello.
Great post!!! :)
Well, I'm not a 9-5 working mama, but you know... So, if I am out, I make sure to add in a little extra where ever I can. I park a little further away. I walk a few more times around the mall. I take then steps, if/when I am stroller-free. The little stuff counts...I hope :)
