what a morning!

I set out for 4 miles today, and it started out great...first mile was 9:10, so I was HAPPY! Then...mid way through the run, I decided I was going to attempt 5 miles. Why not? I was feeling good and my pace was excellent. *It was cloudy, but it's been cloudy here for WEEKS and no rain, so who would have thought.

Mile 3 and it starts POURING!!! I was drenched, but wanna know something crazy?

I LOVED IT!

The rain beating down on me was seriously AMAZING! I was even laughing at myself enjoying that run so much! The funny thing is, on the course there were TONS of runners doing the same thing...none of us seemed to mind.

Could be that it hasn't rained here in MONTHS, or that we were all drenched in sweat from the humidity and then at last...THE RAIN!

Not too sure, but this morning I felt completely refreshed!

I was in the zone, had a great run and came home SOAKED!

Here's proof: You can't tell, but I promise you that this shirt is SOAKED!

Have you ever run in the rain? And enjoyed it?

*I remember seeing a video on a blog about CrossFit and they were working out in the pouring down rain and I was thinking to myself, Wow...who would want to exercise in the rain?!

I guess that answer is ME and a bunch of other crazy, workoutaholics too!!!

My Accomplishment: Some people do not weigh themselves...they don't even own a scale. But since I have struggled with weight MOST of my life, I own one and probably use it too much. It decides my mood for the day, if I allow it (I try to stay away from it as much as possible) but today, after that nice run in the rain, I thought I'd jump on and see what's happening! To my SURPRISE, I lost 3 lbs, which makes me at my exact weight that I was when I first lost all of my weight, 11 years ago!!! AMAZING! I started crying...yes, I did and I'm not afraid to admit it!

I used to tell myself I'd never get back to that point, because at that time I was working out 3-4 hours a day, eating VERY strict with mega protein AND it was before having children or a hubby! but look at me...I DID IT!!!

Now, excuse me while I jump up and down in excitement!!!

I used to, like you, think that running in the rain would be totally horrible and no fun at all. I pretty much avoided it and headed straight to the treadmill when there was a threat of rain. It wasn't until I was running my 2nd half marathon that I realized that running in the rain is SO MUCH FUN and it feels great!! It was a torrential downpour the entire race (not exaggerating...they had to reroute the course because it was flooding so badly) but it was great and it made me love running in the rain! Check out my rainy pictures on my race report... http://therunningcook.blogspot.com/2011/04/blue-ridge-half-marathon.html.

Great job on your weight loss! That's awesome and it is so great to meet a goal like that.

Yay! I'm glad you got to experience running in the rain. I LOVE it. It makes me feel even closer to nature. Remember I told you my 4th of July run was in the rain :)

Great time, by the way!

What a great run, Marissa! Your pace is AWESOME! And, I've had one run like that, where it just started totally pouring, and I LOVED it. It feels pretty nice when you're all hot and sweaty--almost like you won't need to take a shower after your run (ha ha). Keep it up!

Congrats on your accomplishments!!

I ran in the rain the other day. I LOVED it, but mainly because it wasn't super pouring.
The only thing I worry about is messing up my iPod. It started tripping out in the rain the other day, lol

And also, I am happy that you are seeing some results on the scale!

Woo hoo, way to go! I do love running in the rain as long as it isn't cold. Rain in the summer actually makes my runs feel a lot better because I'm less hot and miserable.

I have never ran in the rain before, but I can imagine how much fun I would have splashing in the puddles!

I'm glad you had such a great run and really enjoyed yourself! That is when workouts are the best! Have a great Saturday! : )

I ran my second 10K in the pouring rain this past September...one of my best races ever! It's just an amazing memory. Glad you got to make one of your own :)

I love running in the rain. I also ran this morning and felt a couple of drops. I got all excited and then nothing. It would have been nice b/c it was soooo humid.

My husband and I love to run in the rain. Some of our most fun training runs have been in the rain.

I would jump up and down too! Way to go!
